What is Oral Placement Therapy?
Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) is a specialized approach that uses structured exercises to
target the oral muscles involved in speech and feeding. It focuses on jaw stability, tongue
elevation, lip rounding, and other foundational movements necessary for verbal
communication and proper swallowing.
Unlike traditional speech therapy, which focuses on sound production, OPT works on the
physical motor patterns required to produce those sounds.
